My grams says at night before bed, she closes her eyes and images flashes before her. She said before that it looked like small people were jumping up in down in hyper speed on the seats of what looked like a train, but she wasnt sure. I forgot what else she told me but she says when she tries to close her eyes and see it she can't see anything.

"I" haven't a "name" for it. I suppose there is one (seems names have been come up with for everything these days...lol)

But, I understand what she's seeing. When I lay down to sleep, I see images of people flashing, quickly in and out of my sight (minds eye) Full faces to small figures popping in and out, up and down, whatever...
If I lay there and "try" to see it, I can't

I've always just figured it was tapping into other times, spaces, realms or whatever. I've never tried to "figure" it out. Though I have said, "hummm?" to my self, and as soon as I do that, it's gone.

I've had similar audio experiences too. I'd hear hundreds of garbled voices some mornings when I'd wake and would go about my business. Like hundreds of people trying to all talk at once. Quite frankly I thought I was losing my mind for a little while. But, when I started to try and listen (to "figure it out or analyze it) it stopped. Well, that was one way to get it to stop I thought. So, that's what I would do when it started, because to be honest, I didn't want it to happen.
That was over 35 years ago now though...

I realize now that I was tapped into other realms or everyone's energy and hearing everything (everyone) at once...
Could just be that your grandmother is tapping into other realms

I believe it's called "hypnogogic imagery".

I used to have that while in bed and I could see through my closed eyelids. I saw very vivid 2d and 3d images(weird objects or creatures). I saw those images in my third eye section.

One time I could even go out of my body right after such images.

Humm, ya learn something new everyday! I never heard of it...well, maybe I had, but don't recall it at all.

It was interesting reading about it. It doesn't fit for my morning experiences though...well, maybe if I were semi sleep walking upon waking, I guess that might make sense, since I do take a long time to wake up (from another post where I said I walk into walls until fully awake...lol)
I dunno...but, I would have accepted that as an explanation when I was experiencing it, because it sounds better then thinking I was losing my mind!

As for the seeing too...I wonder if dreama's grandmother feels wide awake when it happens, cause I know when it happens with me (night and morning) I don't feel on the brink of sleep (well, except like I said, I am a stumbling idiot in the mornings)
But, for the most part I always felt wide awake when it's happened

Ask your grandmother dreama if she feels she's on the brink of sleep, though awake, when it happens
