Light Therapy

Postby Revenant on Wed Sep 16, 2009 12:14 pm

I just bought this light therapy device to give it a try:

Full-spectrum light travels from the eye to the brain, where it triggers the hypothalamus to send chemical messengers to regulate the autonomic functions of the body, such as blood pressure, breathing, digestion, and the immune system, as well as the body's circadian rhythm.

In order to maintain health, it may be important to be exposed to light containing the full wavelength spectrum found in natural light. Full-spectrum light therapy, bright light therapy, and ultraviolet light therapy are used by some clinicians for treating conditions that range from seasonal affective disorder to bulimia, and new applications are continually being suggested.

Anyone else has such a device? and did it work for you?

A friend of mine was born and raised in the sunshine of South Africa, so here in Canada (or where she is now, in Alaska), she suffers from SAD in the wintertime. She uses light therapy to great effect.

Love,
Mike.

P.S. Last winter a local pharmacy had those one sale, but the sign company made an error. The sign said, "Do you suffer from SAP?" I made an image of it, then went in and told them that the only things with SAP problems are trees. :icon_yes:

I found some of your posts very humourous, including this one :D

But seriously did you really do that? :laughcry:

Well, they did need to contact the sign company to have it corrected... so, yes!

Love,
Mike.
