September 5th

We all go onto a beach. I notice a tourist that doesn’t have a kangaroo, but somehow wants to give the impression that he does. We walk around the car he’s in. He’s apparently from Texas. We head towards the water and we know it’s cold because it’s winter. There are actually people swimming. I go near the water in my sneakers, and a bigger wave comes. I do an amazingly impossible jump to avoid getting my shoes wet. Everyone is ready to go, but I circle back remembering that I didn’t look for shells. I scan the ground for shells, but find a lot of stones instead. I remember that the hurricane brought those. I look down and find a part of a human skull. It’s just the face, and it’s almost paper-thin, but it is unmistakably a human skull face. It has something attached to the bottom.

I feel I should notify the authorities on t his one. I consider leaving it there where it was found, but a young boy has been watching and has taken an interest in it. I take it with me and try to memorize the spot where I found it, as I know its location will be relevant to the police. I count some markings on the seawall to remember later.

I go away from the beach, and have to cross a busy street. The cross light takes forever, so I decide to go anyhow, as there are no cars coming from the first lane. I’m trying to make it to the median where there is another crossing area, but it’s pitch dark for some reason, and I can’t see anything at all. I keep moving forward and finally make it to the center median. Now I have to wait to get to the other side, but at least I can see again. I still have the skull, and consider stopping a policeman in the street, but I think I should find out where the station is and go later. I still want credit for my find.

I’m discussing the possibilities of the skull's existence with someone--murder, shark, drowning, or archaeological find.

Dreams about beaches and shells are pretty common settings for me, but the interesting thing was the finding of the skull. Later today I was in a Michael's store, and I found a bin full of paper mache masks that looked exactly like the one described in the dream. I have, from time to time, had dream elements or parts of dream appear in my physical life at a later date.

Everman's Closing and Leather Satchel

I walk to our local health food store to find that it is closed and empty. I’d just heard that they were closing, but can’t imagine how they’d emptied it so quickly. I find an empty leather satchel outside of the building and claim it, as it seems abandoned, and I walk in with the bag on my shoulder. I am talking to the people who were working there, and commenting on their closing. I find it odd that after making all those plans that they’d suddenly simply shut down. I’m getting the impression that they’d recently had a meeting and all agreed to shut down.

Later, I am showing someone the leather satchel who asks if I’m sure the owner won’t be looking for it. I tell them that everyone at Everman’s had seen it, and that they have my phone number if someone comes around inquiring about it.

Something about needing to take a special taxi or limousine service. A woman is saying that we need to call them first, and I’m worried that they will ask me to make the phone call, as I hate making phone calls.

We’ve gone into a kitchen or something, and I am drinking beer, leaving the unfinished beer in cabinets, and then getting more beer as I walk along. I realize that before the owners get home I should remember where I’m setting those beer bottles and retrieve them.

The significance of that dream appears to be in the leather bag--I'll have to contemplate that.
